An afternoon spent at Topanga State Park, California. The park is located in the cliffs and canyons of the Santa Monica Mountains; features 36 miles of trails thru open grassland, live oaks, and great views of the Pacific Ocean.

Some facts: The park is the world's largest wildland within the boundaries of a major city. Numerous geologic formations can be found in the park: earthquake faults, marine fossils, volcanic intrusions, and a wide variety of sedimentary formations.

Topanga State Park is is one of the 48 California state parks proposed for closure in January 2008 as part of a deficit reduction program.
