In this video, I will begin the process of showing how to cast pen blanks using polyester resin. I will make a blank that has a solid color with a black pearl color tint.

  • Nice video but one important step missed no hardner added to the resin, so how did you get it to harden?

  • ***** Super job on the video *****

  • what is this?! i was expecting to see a film extra from John Waters' Polyester where they were casting actors!!! =<

  • I'm glad I'm not the only person who calls that place Wally World. ;-) I use rice instead of water to measure volumes -- Much easier to clean up. Nice tutorial!

When you get to it, emphasize the OV/P95 and eye protection when adding MEKP. The crosslinking process is _nasty_.

  • so glad to know the michaels resin is polyester. i've been looking for polyester for a while, for refinishing guitars, and didn't know i could get it locally. i had seen the michaels resin but didn't know if it was polyester or not.
