Benefits of Green Building

Kim Hibbs, a Certified Green Builder with Hibbs Homes, talks with Tom Schultz of Laclede Gas in St. Louis about the benefits of buying or building a verified Green home. Tom works closely with the Home Builder's Association (HBA) of St. Louis and the Green Building Initiative (GBI) to bring verified Green homes to the St. Louis metropolitan area. Those homes are inspected by Laclede engineers a minimum of two times during construction to verify that builders are construing the homes to the standards required. There are similar local programs throughout the country and national programs such as NAHB - National Green Building Program and United State Green Building Council's (USGBC) LEED program.
