Things get complicated when you're offline as it happens. See more films and create the next "Offline as it happens" story and you might win a Nokia N900: http://www.youtube.com/nokia/
...Yet another interesting campaign inviting the users to contribute and spread brand awareness.
I find it fascinating that people are motivated to contribute, not least what motivates them to do so. Can it be that only the promise of a new Phone is the motivation? Is it because people see it as a nice challenge?
I am also curious as to why/how Nokia benefits from this:
Do users contributions always contribute to brand awareness? What happens should someone make a video that criticize Nokia (instead of suggesting how Nokia can tell new "Offline as it happens"-stories)? Is it still brand awareness since there is no such thing as bad publicity?
I wonder what counts as a good contribution. What ranking systems affect which of the contributions will be most visible? Does the fact that someones idea is used make him/her encourage other people to watch it, thereby adding personal interest to the reasons/motivations for paying attention to an ad!
What work is put into the choosing of the winner? Will a randomly chosen winner actually be carefully chosen due to his/her influence or visibility online, or will no reference to the person behind a successful idea be visible?
