Jarrett Tomás Barrios has been a Massachusetts State Senator since 2002 where his priorities include the alleviation of health care disparities and expanding health care for all underserved groups, including Latinos. After graduating from Harvard with high honors and obtaining a law degree with honors from Georgetown Law School, he worked for several Boston law firms before launching his legislative career in the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1998. Mr. Barrios's legal work and community activism have been widely acknowledged, including recognition in Boston Magazine's "40 under 40," the Boston Business Journal's "40 under 40," the Boston Jaycees' "Ten Outstanding Young Leaders," in his receipt of the Kennedy Library's Fenn Award for Young Leaders, and membership in the American Council of Young Political Leaders. He sits on a number of boards, including Massachusetts Blue Cross/Blue Shield Foundation and The American Red Cross.
