Eddie Palmieri release Vamonos Pal Monte in 1971 under the Fania/UMGD record label. He is considered one of the most creative, unique artists in musical history. It is impossible to summarize in a few short words Eddie's trajectory and contributions as a pianist, composer, arranger, orchestra director, and above all, as a leader in producing albums with successful artists and bands. A self-professed lover of jazz and salsa (a genre in which he was a pioneer), Eddie experimented with Afro-Caribbean beats, giving them an innovative sound. Over the course of his long and successful career, Eddie Palmieri imprinted his excellence on more than 35 albums, including the following: "Palo pa' rumba;" "Champagne;" "Unfinished Masterpiece" (with the participation of vocalist Lalo Rodríguez); "Sing Sing," which was released twice; "Vámonos pa'l monte" (considered one of the classics of his discography); and "The Sun of Latin Music," the first Latin album to win a Grammy, in 1974. During his long and successful career, he played concerts and recorded with the Tico All Stars. Later, he performed with the internationally acclaimed Fania All Stars.

Nery, from Ft. Myers, FL, and Ashly from Miami, FL, both enjoy the classics of greats like Eddie Palmieri.

This was filmed at the BTS Social, also known as the Born to Salsa Social, is a cool spot to check out in Miami. It's a once a month event where folks from out of town come over to hang out and do some salsa dancing.

Visit www.BornToSalsa.com for more info on the event.

  • These three close-up black and white videos are really incredible. There are many salsa videos on youtube but hardly any that are good quality and where you can see people's faces. I think the close-ups at waist level and of people's feet are really artistic too. Thanks

  • It's just like watching Avatar everything it's in your face better then 3-D.

  • Well, what can I say? ncredible song by Eddie and Charlie...the dancers..mmm do they really like salsa? because dancing salsa in not only about spinning around every 5 seconds. nice coreography but unfortuately if you don't dance like that nowa days these people say you don't know how to dance salsa..come on man! vivan y sientan la salsa y sueltense un poco e improvisen..peace and love :)
