A unique combination of Hull and P&I market commentary, analysis and networking to guide shipowners and risk managers towards more profitable insurance. Plan now to attend.

This year's Forum explores the key insurance issues for shipowners, risk managers and all involved in providing marine insurance.

Focus on H&M

Has the underwriting cycle now disappeared for good? Are we entering a sustained period stability characterized by low margins for underwriters and are shipowners benefitting? What effect will upcoming legislation (Basel / Solvency II) have on hull rates? Can and will underwriters absorb the extra cost of doing business?' Will volatility and profits return to underwriting with economic revival and more activity? Is a shipowner's choice of hull underwriter defined by market conditions, or something more? What are the correct strategies for choosing an underwriter and are owners getting what they deserve from the hull market?

Focus on Convergence

With the lines between traditional marine insurance providers blurring, the Forum examines the ideas and security behind convergence -- exactly how are the hull and P&I markets coming together and for whose benefit? For shipowners, is it a one-stop-shopping dream come solution, or a nightmare scenario of conflicting interests?

Focus on Piracy

For the first time the Forum offers a focused and dedicated session on Piracy featuring a full status update and practical guidance on how cases are now being handled.

Focus on P&I

Hear from the experts in a session devoted to the hot topics facing Clubs, including sanctions, the challenge of corporate governance and how P&I underwriting is done in the real world.

Focus on The Way Forward

The mutual P&I insurance system has worked for a very long time, over 150 years in the case of some clubs. It potentially provides compensation beyond legally mandated levels, has never failed to respond to a disaster and the clubs are a force for good in terms of using their expertise and experience to promote maritime safety. So the system is far from broken.

But as the clubs prepare for the annual 20 February renewal of cover they have rarely faced such an uncertain future — with the gap between what could have been and the harsh reality down to a single development — an ongoing, seemingly thorough, antitrust investigation visited on them by the European Commission (EC).
