I love when people discover new music on tv shows.
I was happy when I heard the song on HIMYM because I love the song, but I was happier for The Shins, this way more people will know this beautiful band.

HIMYM has a way of choosing the perfect music to exemplify a moment. Whatever pain I am having in my life at the moment that I watch an episode, I am able to engross myself in the emotions of the characters and regardless of the momentary uncertainty, I am able to remember all of the wonderful memories I have experiencing the same kind of sentimental nostalgia that the characters feel on a daily basis. HIMYM is truly the perfect allegory for my quest toward contentment...
