Pull starting a 1976 VW Beetle engine. Using a standard non modified alternator pulley. And a double pulley on the last start. Engine is running sweet after a top end overhaul, and re lapped valves.

  • Sounds very good. Now quit letting it idle so much. You will accelerate carbon build-up. Drive, drive it!

  • That's how it's supposed to run.... sweet

  • Those 1300dp engines were a sweet motor, we got them here in Australia in standard bugs from 71-75. You just need to move that fuel filter out of the engine bay before that your bug goes up in flames and drop your idle speed back, it's way too high.

  • @gmd1417 that isn't an american model. as i understand it, the 1300 was used for many years on the standard (not deluxe) beetle. it's also the best motor vw made. of the air cooleds, that is.

  • 1300? The 1976 VW bug had a 1600 DP engine...

  • Wow... wish my 1835 could do that...

  • definitely a very nicely running engine! Props!

  • That sure is a lovely sounding engine, best I,ve heard on a beetle in a long time. And the coin definitely shows how nice its running, never seen that done before. great.
