As for speaking English "perfectly," I highly doubt that. Yes, we have a good command of the English language, but that's nothing to brag about. Not everybody in the country can speak English. You have better chances of having a good conversation with someone in Filipino.

And you mentioned that Filipinos are undeniably bright. Once again, this doesn't apply to everybody. Just like every country in the world, there are people who are bright and some who aren't.

I'm a Filipino, but I definitely don't believe that the success of one applies to everybody. Yes, she's Pinoy and we are all proud of her, but this is a competition. Besides, she got 2nd place. That's a great achievement in itself.
