PaulsEgo's hilarious video that I quote at the start:

LatumWay's recent video talking about his current motivation to make videos:

Another excellent video from LatumWay about the need to question the existence of God - really good value:

  • Anti-religious videos, if nothing else, create a social environment conducive to rational thought. Failure to grasp the fact is only one of several foundations of theism, another is the need for social acceptance. We might never CONVINCE those pious enough to make YEC videos, but we CAN reach and support those on the fence--and we can HELP THEM live happier lives. That's why you are one of my favorite subscriptions, and I always look forward to your views.

  • @nothingUnrealExists Thanks. I know that I myself received great support from the varied rational approaches taken by many YTers when I 'deconverted' : and I've never looked back since.

  • Religious education teachers aren't necessarily religious themselves. They are quite often agnostic. (Though I couldn't make out the body of the article, so perhaps that gave more details.)

It's important not to confuse Religious EDUCATION with Religious INDOCTRINATION. The former is generally only synonymous with the latter within certain faith schools. And don't forget that the BHA (British Humanist Association) are trying to encourage more secular viewpoints in RE.

  • @Fatpie42 Very good point. Is Terry Sanderson still among the movers and shakers of the BHA. He used to write scathing and brilliant articles for GT magazine.

  • 100 points for "laughable".

Perhaps with a touch less piety over the years you might have been shouting this vlog from a cardboard box with nothing to your name except a mangy dog on a string and a half bottle of Buckfast.

  • @nilbud Or perhaps I might have become Professor for the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford like Richard Dawkins. BTW, have you ever met anyone who has drunk Buckfast? I haven't.

  • Seeing a new video from you is always a delight. Given the lifetime of experience you have, I trust you will not run out of ideas ... I just hope you can find the time to share your thoughts and experiences with us.

  • I have heard the argument that religious people don't deconvert because of the arguments but there are several deconverts on YouTube who say that they were actually persuaded to examine their faith through what they saw here, one of the more famous is HappyCabby. Perhaps the people who make that statement are simply discouraged.

  • What a wonderful chap to listen to! I'm watching your videos now. Hilarious yet total common sense. Good luck to you, sir.

  • There's only so much to say sadly, especially with so many other people saying stuff if you want to be original.

  • oops didn't mean to click on this. Thumbs down.

  • The blind, meek, defeatist acceptance of our mortality (deathism) is as big a psychosis as religion, and just as harmful. Atheism is only entry level rationalism, and if you don't use it as a stepping stone towards transhumanism, you might as well remain blissfully religious. You still have time to explore further, Mr. Tenneral, but the clock is ticking...

  • Is the point you wish to make with your headline cutting the weaker one that the pious are as prone to moral failure as the rest of us, or the stronger one that a life of religious dedication is more likely to result in such crimes than a life not so dedicated? The former is a fair point, but I worry about using media stories as ProfMTH did to make the latter point, as it seems to me the evidence is skewed by publication bias.

  • Good to see you back, Michael. And please, keep making videos. You can talk about any subject. You are an intelligent, charming, interesting, and quite fascinating person. So it does not matter what topic you talk about just as long as you talk to us at least once a week. ;)

  • @tenneral

Haha - lol - you probably saved the world.

Gave Jesus second thoughts ("he's right you know. Now's not the time with this scandal going on.")

  • @ReligionFreeDeist What flavour Christian were you originally and what direction would you say you've taken since?

  • @tenneral You could do a cover act the Not Richard Dawkins tour reprising some of his greatest hits. I hear he's a big fan of the hymns and organ music, perhaps you could do a duet.

I'm an atheist now but perhaps my god bothering upbringing steered me away from Buckfast breakfasts. I have met people drinking Buckfast, they were generally reclining at the time or shortly afterwards.

I think you should get a portable camera then you could ruminate and even fulminate while you cultivate.
