@stevehn787 Thanks mate! Really appreciate it, because the next one up I've researched would be the Panasonic HS700. It's double the price, and although it's got lots more features such as 3MOS and mike options I'm kinda thinking it might be like trying to shoot a gnat with an elephant gun!

@LucLabute Its not too bad, sensitive enough, and a gain adjustment in manual mode.
Would be nice to have a remote mic for when someone is further away commentating on something etc.
I am going to experiment with them wearing a voice recorder and mic, and then sync it into the video clip later.
Its a beginners High Def camera, but worth it for the price,
Steve, I was all set to get this camcorder and the only thing that disturbed me was the lack of a jack for an external mike. I'm new to videographing. Could you offer any advice on how I might still use a mike with this camcorder?

@Bonecrusher27WTF , Depends on what you want it for really ?, some people have used a digital voice recorder for the sound, and the good thing is with that, it continues recording sound while you are walking round taking different angle shots of a musician etc, but the downside is, you need to add that track to the clip and sync it in with the picture.
For a general purpose camera, its not too bad with the built in microphone, mine has just spent 1 month round europe and its great quality :)

@stevehn787 Good day Steve
I want it to do youtube vids, particularly on exercise and sometimes this involves working out in a noisy gym or boxing ring. For this the voice sometimes gets lost and mixed with extraneous noise I can really do without. I'm not crazy mad about producing slick productions, but audio is definitely something noticeable and can make the difference between listening or moving on. I WOULD however still like background sound, only subdued.

@Bonecrusher27WTF i think it would be ok, its not as bad as things used to be where you could hear all the traffic and birds chirping, ill see if i can get some more clips off it, and upload some this weekend to show you
