This is a longer camera test than the previous. Just checking out what my camera can do. Shot on a Canon XH A1 around various locations in Las Cruces, NM.
Use whatever write it is, Firewire I think, and go into a program like Adobe Premiere, and press: capture. Make sure you turn your capture setting to HDV, and it'll pick up your camera. From there, the controls are in the program and you can control the camera's play, rewind, forward, etc. functions from the computer screen.
You're basically "playing the footage" on the screen and pressing record to record the footage that is being replayed on your monitor.
If your using a Mac, I recommend using Apple Intermediate Codec for your HDV footage, its a better setting.

I use Final Cut Pro. Just plug a firewire cable into the camera and digitize the footage under the correct settings
