  • Hi I have an old telecaster that I want to sound nice and vintage. I want a single coil yardbird neck pickup and a humbucker bridge. I want a nice classic rock sound. I was thinking of an abraxus but which humbucker would you recommend?

  • @IAreCrazyChris If it's an old tele, you probably have a slab ash body. I would say either the Stormy Monday for a real vintage PAF tone, a Black Dog if you want a darker tone with more midrange push, or the Abraxas.

  • @TwilightOdyssey yeh I think it actually has a beech wood body. My dad sanded it down for re-spraying a long time ago and he said that it looked like beech. I'm also looking at the mules or the riff raff's.

  • @IAreCrazyChris Riff Raff and Mule would both have more bite and more push, but would also work nice with the Yardbird. My favourite Mule is the Alnico IV version; that pickup sounds AMAZING for rock!

  • Hey im looking for a pickup to play in an sg through a blackstar. I dont no what bareknuckle to get my style is mostly anything from gnr and ac/dc led zepplin etc.

  • @coolkid1095 Hey there; there are 3 sets you should consider. First would be a Riff Raff bridge with a Stormy Monday neck; next would be a VHII bridge with a Stormy Monday or Riff Raff neck; and also a Cold Sweat set.

  • hey i am also looking for some new pickups. i play a gibson sg special with 490R an d 490t and a blackstar ht-5

the 490T could have more power and the 490R sounds clean very fast like mud.

i am listen to music from acdd, led zepplin, black sabbath motorhead, metallica, panthera, gun's n roses, maiden, danko jones and so on.

    maybe you can help me?!

  • @Mattytheman91 I'd say the Stormy Monday's would be better for you as they have a lower output.

  • @Mattytheman91 Hi there ... I would recommend the Mule for you! Will do exactly what you are asking.

  • hey everyone else seems to be doing it!

i want a really smooth fat tone in the bridge for playing dark jazz through to some screaming blues, and the bridge pick up to scream a little more, but nothing too heavy, only going as far as say like VanHalen and Satch (if only i could play like them!!!)

I was recommended the painkillers, but i think i was misunderstood as they seem to be very heavy pickups. Thanks :)
