Having seen a river tank on www.loaches.com i fancied making one for my own fishes.
Took a bit of tweaking to get it right but it's now finished and works a treat.
i've never seen Houdini my hillstream loach so active

    something to bear in mind is the rear section of the tank, mine is 1-1/2 wide and 8" tall, it's not really big enough to cope with the flow (1600 lph ) and i've had to open the filter sponge right out just to get enough water transfer., the pump area currently has 2" less water in it than the main tank due to this.

    in a larger tank you can have a wider section at the rear and more flow.

    also make the wall between pump and tank 1/2" shorter so the main doesn't overflow
