An excerpt from Janice Mirikitani's poem, a reflection she had when viewing ground zero of the Atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. The Shadow in Stone was all that was left of one of the victims after being completely vaporized by the blast, the poem is from their perspective.

  • 60 years later, Japan is a pacifist nation that decries nationalism, is repentant of its deeds during WW2, and is currently our ally, and so I think it is reasonable to be sympathetic and aware of our impact on them.

  • My intent was not to say whether our methods of war 60 years ago were right or wrong, or whether the end justified the means, but rather to take a step back and look at the human and civilian impact that the atomic bomb had. I know that we did more damage to Japan with our firebombing than with the A-bomb, but the atomic bomb is more terrifying and horrific in terms of its singular impact.

  • No more Hiroshima

    No more war

    Please!

  • Maybe next time a country who takes allegiance with a mass murder of over 12 million who attacks a country who they just made progression in peace talks will think about the consequences of their actions..the atom bombs saved more lives than were killed.

  • What can you say after watching this?

Very good video, and superb choice of music.

  • That was unnerving.

  • Excellent video. There is a part of me that believes if something is created - then it will be used sooner or later. It's a fallacy to say it will remain inert.

  • Jay, I'm still impressed. Excellent video.
