  • Nobody plays guitarre like these guys Amen

  • @DISPENSER4HIRE Not to mention comfort in playability. You gotta admit, draping your arm over the big bout of a dreadnought for an hour and a half makes your arm feel numb afterwards. I've played Ovations before, and they feel more like electrics while retaining that acoustic sound.

  • the are the best :D

  • In the 70's, and 80's Ovation guitars were far from the best sounding guitars unplugged, but they were the best choice for plugging into an amplified setting as far as consitancy, and reliability. It would have been much more difficult to tour trying to use microphones on the guitars. To put it more simply, they were at the time, the best tool for the job of touring and doing live concerts for large audiences.

  • ,,,i believe that the perfect picture is DiMeola , McLaughlin & Ovation guitars....you know it's the beauty of a whole era!!! I will always have that picture in my had,Al & John shredding on Ovations ,so i really don't care about how they sound,it's the aura of the whole thing!!!!!!!!!

  • @snowtraveler65 Cheers.

  • @dickrobot Thank you. Agree that their technique and feel is definately first rate. Having heard both Al and John play "real" acoustics, I was just somewhat dissapointed in their instrument choice for this tour. Paco's guitar came through just fine and it would have been wonderful to hear John and Al's parts with the richer tone and sustain of solid wood guitars. Even so, sitting third row center at their show in Hartford, CT was an amazing experience that I'll never forget. Cheers.

  • @snowtraveler65 My apologies for being crude. I agree that Ovation guitars do sound sub par. I have an Applause from the late 70's that I started out playing on. It's sound is one dimensional and the frets tear up my fingers. So, to me, these guys are just amazing. The technique and feel far outweigh the "plastic" tone. The fact that they can make those guitars sound good does do their talents justice. Does that satisfy?
