ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS USE GREASE. please do not just throw on your cog without greasing it up first. Also, tighten up your cog as much as you can before threading on your lockring. if you don't you are just begging for a stripped hub and a 100 minimum repair.

Dear Bike Man,
I have an old road bike that i want to make work again, i also want to make it a single speed since i don't care for gears or fixie, my friend said my cassette is done for but that he could make it a single speed using the cassette, i was wondering if it's possible to take the cassette off and put a freewheel or cog on whatever you recommend on it?
thanks!!
