  • Stu,as always, thanks for posting these Ventures classics. My "Colorful Ventures" album has "Red Top" on it.Was there some pressed with this tune instead? Either one is great! "Red Wing" might be off of the Country album the guys did,as Bob Wills recorded it many years ago. Call me "picky" (no pun intended),just askin'!! Cool tune, nonetheless!!

  • @BCRification No this was not from the country classics ,it was from "twist with the ventures" and Red Top has no bearing on this tune nor does the colorful Ventures album...please have your info. in order ,I do not care to be questioned on my uploads (I know MY business) :-I

  • On the album The Colorful Ventures, Don Wilson is clearly holding a Fender Strat.

I have to think that it wasn't just a prop. He must have played it also.

I have looked at many videos of The Ventures on Youtube, and he's always playing a jazzmaster.

I prefered the Fender era, but the first few albums playing Mosrite guitars were fine, but i like the Fender sound better. So sorry to find that Bob Bogle is gone, but his music will live on. He was a trully fine guitarist.

  • @archtopp1 Yes indeed...Both Bob & Don played many guitars in the early years, but this particular tune they were on jazzmasters and by '64 the ventures were using Mosrites .

I had the privilege of meeting and talking to Bob & Mel back in '84 and I dearly miss they're presents within the band...I believe all ventures fans truly miss them - Thanks for the comment!

  • I actually like the early Bogle lead stuff better than the later Nokie stuff. But either way, it's all good!

  • @kapacon Indeed so, rather Bob's , Nokie's' or Gerry's it's all a rich history of the worlds best instrumental music...however I do agree that Bob Bogle's guitar had a resonance like no other...Thank you for your comment!

  • fantastic

  • @spacepatrolman No 2 years after, the two guys were Don Wilson & Bob Bogle (the founders), the guitars were fender jazz masters(2 years prior to MOSRITE) the correct guitars for the period.

Nokie was filling in on studio Bass at the time...the stand-ins were studio hands, due to the ventures not being available for the shoot.

  • @venturesagogo Didnt this album come out before walk dont run with only 2 guys on the cover its before they had nokie edwards [the musicians on the cover of walk dont run were stand ins with the wrong guitars]

  • Great version.
