  • Yeah, this is pure crap. Either Paul condemned Timothy to hell by circumcising him or it's a matter of personal preference and culture whether you want to do it or not (depending on the Jews in the area). But in either case, then Paul is wrong and does not boad well for a prophet of the Bible

  • @LetReasonPrevail1 well put mate. rationalization and denial seem to help non-believers deal with their cognitive dissonance.

  • The same goes for the purely myth-like fables found int the OT such as the tower of babel, great flood, race of giants, talking snakes, jonah & the whale, etc.

The moment you admit that these are not literal (which I defy any intelligent, thinking person to do while maintaining one shread of their intellectual honesty), then you open the pandora's box of what else in the bible is completely fictional

This is how the house of cards comes crashing down in my opinion

    Your thoughts? Cheers

  • Chris, thanks very much for the response.

Your bring up a very interesting point. Namely, if your claim is correct, then the bible documents it's main preacher changing his mind. As such, this directly calls into question the godly inspired nature of Paul's writings & ideas of faith contained in the bible

If this is mearly his opinion which he has every right to change, then what other parts of the bible are not divinely inspired but are simply the opinions of the men who wrote them?

  • @LetReasonPrevail1 The Bible states this by way of the fact that one place he said one thing and later said another - about the same subject - thus demonstrating a change of mind... What do you call a change of thought other than a change of mind?

  • Bro, you assert "Paul changed his mind"

Where exactly in the bible does it state this? If it doesn't (which is the case), then I find it amazing that you would purport to know Paul's mind

Did he reveal himself to you in a dream, or are you simply making this assertion b/c it suits your conclusion?

I'm quite disheartened by fact that many theists simply claim to know what various bible characters intended or even thought including god almighty himself. Pretty audacious to do so, eh?

  • ProfMTH doesn't have to butcher the buy-bull, it does that all by itself.

  • so why do we all get cut then hmmmm? it's because of the prmoinent christian beliefe in it. so make up your mind, either paul changed his mind in favor of it or we all suffer from hypocrits
