@stephen971ful Not exactly, the Taliban were a splinter of some of the forces of the Mujahadeen who gained popularity simply because they ended the banditry and chaos the Mujahadeen brought on Afghanistan after taking over the country. The Mujahadeen were similar to the Contras of Nicaragua, largely foreign mercenaries who pillaged and raped.

Why do they refer to the SOVIETS as Russians when half the SOVIET Army in Afghanistan weren't even Slavs?

@jumpnjza2 Bear in mind that this was made in 1989 when it was common to the refer to the Soviet Union as Russia. Nowadays perhaps the same mistake would not be made.

the same mujahideen who won against the soviets, fight now against america and their zionist/european allies.
Clllllllllllllll 1 year ago
@Clllllllllllllll No, they are not. The extremists were not fighting the Soviets very much as this film clearly shows.

@alanheath3 Mujahadeen-Taliban very different

@stephen971ful Completely different. I think that that is the message of this film - made before the Taliban were 'invented' but clearly showing those who were later key figures in that organisation.
