Chris Mathews talks with Thomas Friedman of the New York Times about bailing out the big three automakers now. This crap angers me.

  • well, I remember bushes first veto was to stop a bill to increase fuel efficiency of automobiles. he said it would damage the economy

  • I have to agree 100%. I do have to say though that gm was on the right track with the ev1 electric car back in the 90's but instead of continuing development of the ev1 they crushed most of them and bought hummer. Dumb-a's. I love my accord. Never have had a problem with it. Same goes for my 89 civic. 400k and runs like new and looks like new.

  • Average compensation per hour of work for worker of the Big 3: $73

Average compensation per hour of work for other Americans: $28

the airlines were in a worse position. they filed bankruptcy and restructed their companies and renegotiated with the unions to corrall the cost of labor.

I'm all for american workers but my god that just on it's face seem greedy.

no bailout, let them go bankrupt and restructure themselves.

  • Its' still your dime baby....Union was greedy though and should be broken

  • NO BAILOUTS...Its our money!!! They made their bed....

  • put strict conditions and oversight on the money. but give the bailout, because if robert rubin is giving a bailout but american autoworkers are not trouble is on the way.

  • Your right,But GM FORD will jest fire 1000,000 of workers if they get the money so way give it to they?

  • bail out the bankers but not american workers

  • Can somebody please explain to me why we're still protecting Japan for free under the terms we set after WW2? Japan has no military expenses (unlike us), so the Japanese government just pours all their money into research and development for companies like sony and toyota and then those companies run ten times more efficiently than American companies like Ford and GE because they receive tons of money from the Japanese government, then the Japanese companies put our companies out of business.WTF

  • After the bailout (if it happens) these guys will fly the coop with their packages..they're probably doing it right now..and we're supposed to pay for their ineptness??
