It's even prophesied in the old testament that they would be stubborn and that God would call other nations too and that he would only save a remnant of Israel. In the scriptures the "Church" is the universal body of believers who are born again by the Spirit of God no matter where they are because their bodies are the temple of God and the Spirit of God lives in them. Who cares what the religious society that called themselves the "church" thought. I care what the scriptures say.
