As grim and unsettling as it is, Threads is probably the best nuclear docu-drama ever made.

Health-care would revert back to the 18th century within a matter of days- boiling instruments to sterilise them, amputations of limbs with hacksaws, pouring booze onto wounds to clean them etc. Before long it would become medieval- cauterizing wounds with hot irons, applying leeches to drain infected blood, maggots to clean wounds.

My God- what did the narrator say? That just one N-bomb dropped on ONE UK city would overwhelm the entire British Health service and even that was assuming all of it was still intact! And since that all of the largest hospitals and much of the specialist services including surgeons were all based in large metropolitan areas, most of it would be destroyed in the initial blast. The vast majority of injured and sick would be entirely on their own. The smaller regional hospitals would be overwhelmed

@ukrainesuperpower87 there is a great documentry about the URRS and their subs -- how they were buidling subs -- but were cutting corners to save costs so as to keep up with the USA numbers.....
