Location: Ocean Park, Washington, at Bay Avenue, with camera looking towars the west to northwest.

Weather: High thin clouds with no wind. Very still outside.

Evacuation staging area is about 1/2 mile to the southeast and the ocean is about 1/2 mile (maybe more) to the west.

The tsunami sirens are located about a mile inland from the beaches all along the Long Beach Peninsula.

I would be interested in hearing the sirens on a windy stormy day as the wind blows from the west/southwest which would carry the sound of the sirens to the east, away from the coastal beaches.

Under stormy conditions, I am not sure if the sirens could be heard, outside, in the town of Ocean Park as they were a distant sound on a windless day.

The tsunami sirens are not meant to be heard indoors, so I reccommend that everyone on the Washington Coast have a NOAA Weather Alert Radio in their homes and businesses. It rains a lot here so we spend a lot of time indoors plus a NOAA Weather Radio would Alert you while you are sleeping.

For visitors to the peninsula, I would like to see NOAA Weather Alert Radios in all vacation rentals and motels/hotels.

  • whats that road signal?.

  • Those sound like single-tone modulators. Definitely not a Whelen-styled wail tone.

  • My parents have a place about a

Mile north of town there and I could hear the siren and public address clear as day!

  • I hear a few Whelen 2900's and a high pitched Thunderbolt 100AT

  • Sounds like a couple of them are sounding in Dual-tone wail

  • The voice portion of the siren was muffled in the Klipsan Beach area - about a block from the Klipsan Beach access road.
