also i find it easier to catch the other quarter while your hands are at 90 degree angels. 90 degree=karate chop.

a karate sensi (dont hate me if i spelled that wrong) tought me this. All you do is flip your hands over really fast and keep one quarter firm in your palm and release the other. took my about 1 hour to get good at
