Classic Yellow Pages advert first shown in 1985. Boy wants a racing bike, dad says the saddle's like sitting on a razor blade... he remembers "when bikes were bikes". But he's getting him one really, Ropers can keep one until the weekend, dad picks it up and watches son ride down the street... but he "was right about that saddle though".

Well spotted. But this definitely aired before 1990 and I would agree 1985 (would have guessed even earlier) as it was – strangely – part of the reason I got into cycling at the time. Can't explain the 1990 though.
