lol, I would but I'm still not 100 percent sure how it all works, when I first set my PS3 up, with no online stuff, i set my username as "Ajax" but I don't know if that's the same online

I'm happy to tell you that PS3 Online is free and no extra equipment needed!

There are great games released like Uncharted,GTA IV and LittleBigPlanet and they are all on sale now.
