10cc - The Things We Do For Love, the Jake Reichbart Trio

On Wednesday February 18, and on Friday February 20, 2009, George, Nick and myself recorded some music from our regular repertoire with the hopes of distributing this music to a wider audience, whether through a CD or by some other means. In the space of six hours all told, we recorded nearly 25 tunes, one take each, just as we do in our gigs. We also set up a camera so you can see the recording as it occurred. Other than a little compression and reverb, there are no edits and no mixing (I have balanced all output levels from the recording once and there are no further fader movements during playback, all dynamics are from the performance itself). As the music gets ready for CD production there will probably be some mastering work to optimize audio quality. Meanwhile, we are presenting a few "teasers" from these sessions in order to generate some interest and to assist in, hopefully, getting some gigs...

Also, check out this brand new fun music: http://www.whotookthedough.com/. Once there, click on Recording Session Video. With the great Paul Keller on bass (Diana Krall) as well as myself on guitar.

  • Hey Jake, Ya know what I really enjoy about the whole band thing is that I get a chance to hear you play out the soloing without having to cover the chords. Not that I don't enjoy your chord solo work because, that is from another planet! I like hearing you play with the freedom afforded to you by the Bassist. By the way all the band sounds really great .. Thanx for asking my opinion. I hear you guys and miss playin gigs with my son........such is life( 4 now)...KEEPON STRUMMIN..DALLAS

  • Thank for your kind comments and support, it really encourages me to keep going!!!

  • That bass was incredible! It put a brought a very jazzy atmospheric sound to the trio and it was very well pulled off. Excellent guitar again my friend. The drumming was also brilliant i would say my only complaint is that the drums seem to very the loudest instrument and in some ways it takes a way from the overall feel because i cant hear the bass at times but maybe as my music teacher says the sign of a good musician is if you don't notice him :P Amazing nonetheless, 5 Stars again :)

  • Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I can always use some feedback relating to mix, I am no engineer... I also notice though, that the mix sounds different as I listen through different computers and sound systems. Through my own big system the bass is actually really loud and full. It sounds the worst through my little laptop speakers... Perhaps as we make the CD from these tracks, I will hire a pro for final mix, EQ and mastering. Thanks again!

  • Great job one and all...

  • Thanks!

  • damn thats great , u guys r really talented , i am a songwriter and we depend on great musicians like u guys to bring it out , thanks for the post

  • Un capo, me gustaría encontrar su música en cd.

  • That was truly amazing! As was your solo work and the rest of the band. I've been learning to play the guitar and you are a real inspiration, thank you!

  • Awesome, give that drummer some of those cane brushes power rods i think, that way he can hit arder and have more freedom with dynamics!

also he will have the jazzier tone of brushes but with more projection! once you try it, I doubt he will go back to sticks cause it makes such a difference! awesome as though!!! amazing!
