I remember this from when I was at college and everyone was being nasty about her swan dress... Years on and everybody is celebrating Lady Gaga's mental costumes. Where's the difference? I expect a great deal of Gaga's inspiration is draw from Bjork.

Grace Jones was another artist that like Nina Hagen, was quite different in a major way. Then there's Cindy Lauper and yes, Madonna.

BTW, I don't think its fair to deny that Gaga copied anyone and yet claim that other artist do copy her. I think its more fair to say that they have been INSPIRED by each other one way or another.

I love Björk. But if you think that she invented crazy outfits, you're delusional. No need to attack Lady Gaga : that's childish. A lot of people were "different" at their times. Take a look at Nina Hagen ... There's a difference between inspiration and copy. By the way, a lot of actual pop artists are copying Lady Gaga. ;)

Totally AGREE!!! I remember watching this live and thinking: Wow this so HER! So bizarre, I just loved it and of course did not expect everyone to do so as well, but to that point of making a HUGE deal about the dress and the trashy comments? C'mon people!

When Lady Gaga showed up being weird everybody thought she was so avant-garde and praised her.
