actually i was reading about this today. EMI didnt state shit. john (i think) learned not to throw out anything you may need in the future, kept the recording, and put about 14 seconds of red space tape after 'the end'. pual loved the new positioning of the song and left it on the master.

The fourteen seconds of silence between "The End" and "Her Majesty" are the result of Kurlanders lead out tape added to separate the song from the rest of the recording.Her Majesty" ends abruptly because its own final note was left at the beginning of "Polythene Pam".
