  • i dwyer would ditch that fucking yankees hat!

  • Dave Balfe was really a key group member, great arranger!

  • The drummer used to work in the Ethel Austin warehouse in Knowsley.

  • Pity their camera camera tv show performance shown here isn't on youtube.

  • People call say what they want about David Balfe but at the end of the day he was a crucial member of the Teardrop Explodes, he was a vital to Cope's songwriting, I thought the third Teardrops album was great I'm so sad they broke up, I did see them in New York in 1981. I was a huge Cope fan but he solo records started getting kinda weak in recent years and all that metal stuff? He needs Balfe he is surrounded by yes men now, no friction. Friction is essential in a group.

  • Balfe certainly did have a temper,I remember Middlesborough when teardrops were supporting Patrik Fitzgerald and Balfe smacked Fitzgeralds mouthy bass player in the gob ha ha.big lanky streak of piss Charlie who went onto Toyah.

  • eh sorry John but Dave balfe was the keyboard player.Julian Cope was the bass player

  • Great stuff. Thanks for sharing!

  • How sad to see one of the very best bands ever break apart for apparently trivial motives. Julian Cope is a major genius, but David Balfe was an absolutely brilliant keyboard player, and Gary Dwyer a cool and exciting drummer.
