After you have completed the iron arm sets you then go to impact drills. Different styles have different methods of doing this. We do 3 star two man drills as well as all of the basic two man drills that involve contact with the hands and arms via slaps, blocks, hitting etc. This drill is done solo with an object striking the muscles and bone of the arm to help "pack" the muscles. I use a bundle of cut wire coat hangers taped together on both ends. This is very heavy and dense and sinks in very nicely apon inpact.

After you’ve completed the five iron arm drills now you move on to impact drills. Your arms should be nice and pumped ready for some packing. If you are alone I use this drill, other wise I do three star. If you have an odd man I like to have the odd man stand there doing the impact drill with the stick while the other two do three star then you rotate. So actually everyone is getting the workout and no one is left out or getting a break. I stand in a horse stance and strike the forearm from elbow to wrist, covering pretty much the entire arm, I kind of roll over the entire surface as I’m striking. Back of the hand forearm side, then onto the palm side forearm, then onto the bone. Here I like to bring my fist up to my chin steadying the arm so when I make contact with the bone there is no give. I’ll also do this while sitting down watching TV by placing my arm on my leg as I’m sitting and striking the same parts listed before. This steadies the arm and doesn’t allow any give when you strike it.

  • I was always taught if you want to get better at taking hits from people, practice taking hits from people! Doing stuff like this only causes mini fractures with if hit hard enough in a real fight will result in a break.

  • you should use a wall bag (filled with sand) i think they are more efficient because you get to train more things at one time...ur training your body to take the force against an opposing force and you might build some strength if you gradually take it up a notch, not to mention your bones get denser also, but thats a given

    banging a metal stick against your arm just isnt smart, in my opinion
