The Wild Swans singing the Wexford song Purple & Gold.

Verse 1

A father and son, they stood hand in hand,
as they watched Wexford play, from the back of the stand,
and the words that he said,I'll hear when I'm old,
It is a beauty to behold, when you see the Purple and Gold

Chorus

Ah the Purple and Gold,Is my heart and my soul,
from the men of today,to the heroes of old,
Ah the Purple and Gold,is a dream i still hold,
It is a beauty to behold, when you see the Purple and Gold

Verse 2

I can still them now,On the All-Ireland day,
When the Rackards stood proud, and by od could they play,
and the Quigleys stood tall, every man brave and bold,
It was a privlige i was told,to wear the Purple and Gold

Chorus

Ah the Purple and Gold,Is my heart and my soul,
from the men of today,to the heroes of old,
Ah the Purple and Gold,is a dream i still hold,
It was a privlidge i was told,to wear the Purple and Gold

reapeat chorus(X3)

  • I'm Italian and i was ther that day on gorey's main street with the wexoford flag... i can't belive 12 year ago!

  • Despite all the heartache of the last few years I still wouldn't swap being a Wexford man for anything, '96 means more to any Wexford man than 10 All-Irelands in a row for Kilkenny could ever mean. Our day will come again. It simply has to.
