It takes you over 1 whole minute to click the New Game button. There's something seriously wrong with that.

@JorikoStar The only downside of Star Ruler is that it almost has no actual gameplay whatsoever. Of course that argument was thrown at Distant Worlds too thanks to the heavy automation possible, but at least Distant Worlds has massive gameplay depth there in the first place :)

I still miss Space Empires 5 though, but with the horrific interface and the fact that it runs at 5fps on modern computers, i simply cant stand 10 minutes of it :(

Do hope a sequel is in the works!

There's also Distant Worlds, a real RT4X game. Like you noted. Sins of a Solar Empire is far too simple. Star Ruler is pretty nice, but you do get rushed in it so you have to build quickly.

@Submisssioned Try Star Ruler, It's essentially an RTS version of Space Empires 5, albeit with a smaller tech tree, and less species abilities. On the upside, however, the game is still in development and is constantly being improved. Additionally, it has a small but devoted fanbase that constantly adds mods to the game.

I was one of the beta testers for this game. Too bad it killed the franchise. SE IV is so much more fun than this one. Although SE V is without a doubt one of the best 4x game to ever come out. SE IV was just more fun.

I tried to like Sins of a solar empire but I could do it.

Whats this game truely about? Graphics? gamedepth? There is not much. I my opinion.

: 3 Races...than sucks! I want at least 6 - 7 or more with random abilities. like this game.

:Ship limits? Its a SPACE game. SPAAAACE...a very very big thing ;). Has more room than 20 ships or so.

: Graphics. A colored cube shoots stuff on another cube. voilá !

:Civilization management? not really. like in GC2 or MOO2/3
