@dangerouslytalented The thing is the gun ban made crime even higher then it already was while at the same time overall around the country violent crime was going down.

@whothaplaya A) the gun ban in DC was very llocalised and unenforcable because it is too easy to bring guns in to that area from across the border.
Local gun bans like that are there BECAUSE of high crime rates. They are not the RESULT of high crime rates.

@dangerouslytalented And the gun ban in DC did NOTHING to reduce crime. The only thing it accomplished was make it impossible for law abiding citizens to own and carry guns. Criminals do not follow laws regarding rape,murder,theft etc. what makes you think they would follow a law saying they can't carry a gun.

@ClickMyName100 why wouldn't you shoot someone breaking into your house? how do you know they're not armed? they are obviously trying to do a criminal act if they break in without consent.. i say fire a warning shot, if they still attempt to break in, then shoot at will.

@crozek Guns get banned in places like DC BECAUSE of high violence rates, not the other way around. The real problem is the kind of environment that causes the violence in the first place: Unemployment, lack of jobs and opportunites, infrastructure decay, no social safety net, etc,
In other places where certain guns are prohibited and all other guns are controlled and licensed, like Australia, there has been no rise in violent crime.

@NeccoWecco thing is there are so much guns in the world, there are always going to be people that have them. So i at the verry least i understand why regular citizens feel like they should have them to. Also the entire weapon industry is really big in the US so lobbyists will always try to have guns beign legal for their own profit.
