TI-84 Tutorial - Augmented Matrices, Reduced Row-Echelon Form, and Solving for Multiple Variables

This video involves some more advanced steps for working with matrices on a TI-84 calculator. In this video, I actually take a system of 4 equations with 4 variables and show you how to solve for all four variables without writing a single thing down. To do this, you have to know how to create an augmented matrix and put it in REDUCED Row-Echelon Form.

You may want to watch the more basic video (how to convert a matrix to row-echelon form) before watching this one, because I gloss over some of the basic steps in this video.

actually an easier way is to plug the matrix in at the beginning as a 4 x 5. (Pretend the dashed line is gone.)

Hit rref:. Plug in A. it gives the same answer in a gazillion less steps

@McFacecriminal: Just a warning...you don't always get the correct answer when you do it that way. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm sure there's a reason for it, but I just haven't sat down and tried to figure out why this is the case. (When it works, though, you're right - it's much quicker and easier.)
