  • Okay, maybe we can have the poster give us in detail what exact machines are being used so this doesn't have to be debated any longer? It's a great video to compare, but it's worthless without knowing what machines they are.

  • @CzapigaKielbasa - As stated above the other 2 machines are a Cab Cadet and a Simplicity. This video was taken a couple of years ago up at the Ariens test site in Michigan by some test engineers so I don't have the specific models that were used but do know that they are similar models in both housing size and horsepower.

  • actually, thats different modles of ariens

right to left: commrcial, 2 stage; residential, 2 stage; 2- stroke- single stage

  • Sorry bassboy but they are not all ariens machines. It is actually a Cub Cadet on the left and a Simplicity in the middle.

  • Not to burst your bubble, but they are all ariens just different models. small, medium, LARGE.

  • Sorry aardvarkiq but they are not all Ariens units. That would defeat the purpose of even showing the video.

A lot of the IH design and parts lasted until the 90s when CC was more integrated into MTD. First they restyled them to look aerodynamic (ugly! puke puke puke), then they went at them with the cost cutting sawzall. Still, I wouldn't trust anything made after they got polluted with plastic and an aluminum transmission.

The 2000 and 3000 series are okay, but I'd take a comparable Simplicity to any of them. The compact utility tractors (Yanmar) are good though. Still,

  • I like your video, Now to really confuse some out there. the Cub Cadet on the far left is actually a MTD painted yellow and white, since MTD bought the Cub Cadet name in 1981. Every since then Cub Cadets are nothing more than junk. Ariens are top of the line snow blowers, no argument needed.

  • @BigO54110 So again, the video really means nothing and doen't do us any good without knowing the machines. I am not being or trying to be rude if it sounds that way. Without model numbers, engine sizes, bucket widths and so forth, what have we learned? I like the throwing distance of that first machine, but all I know is that it's a sno thro.

  • I have a 1979 ST1032 Ariens. Runs a good as the day I bought it in 1979. I am in a western burb of Chicago. The snowstorm of 2011 has left my L shape driveway with 4' drifts. This Ariens has cut it down to size. While my neighbors were trying to destroy their little whimpy push blowers, this one just clean theirs in no time..

  • I'm in the process of getting an Ariens Compact 24" ST24LE because we have been getting crushed in NY. Just got 12" yesterday with 16-20" drifts over a 10 car driveway. I need one bigger, but I'm trying not to go over 1K.

  • I just bought a new Ariens 1028 and used it twice in the past week. Did a great job with the 6 inches of snow, I want to see how it does in 12 inches. But so far i am happy. IT DOES NOT PAY TO BUY A CHEAP SNOW BLOWER !!! BUY AN ARIENS..

  • @sheddski

Some do it much faster than others. The more snow the machine can take at once the faster you'll be back inside your house. Especially important when handling the heavy snow at the end of the driveway.

  • big deal they all do the same thing BLOW SNOW OUT OF YOURE WAY !!
