New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn said there appears to be no reason why NYPD officers handcuffed and briefly detained Council member Jumaane Williams and Kirsten John Foy, a legislative aide with the public advocate.

Quinn and other spoke during a press conference on the steps of City Hall on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.

  • I SAW THIS SITUATION, AND THESE TWO MEN WERE VERY RESPECTFUL TO THE MEN IN BLUE. THIS IS REAL BAD.

  • Where was Quinn when dozens of middle-aged gay men were being entrapped falsely arrested for prostitution in her district in the city's attempt to shut down porn shops by issuing nuisance abatement violations? She didn't have to speak out for them because she seems to think that the LGBT community's support for her is unconditional.

  • On a day that NYC gathers together to celebrate diversity - and kill 2 people shoot or stab a bunch of others. Way to go West Indian Parade.

Who cares if these dweebs were "special." If you or I tried to walk down the closed street - the cops wouldn't have allowed it.
