I've seen this yellow train a few times before on the ECML. Back then though c.2009, it was a much shorter train

That's a return to the good old days at GQS. If memory serves me right we used to have th 09:00 to Kings Cross then the 17:00 to Edinburgh (can't remember if it went forward to London) and finally the 23:00 to Edinburgh.
A fantastic sound - something that those MTU's will never achieve.

Interestingly it will become quite a catch once all the in service hsts become muted to be able to look out for the NMT because NR arent likely to splash out on new engines antime soon so there will always be one set of valentas floating about

I think on the measurement train one power car is the electric hybrid one, or has that been removed?

Glasgow Queen Street high level is a terminus with 7 platforms. The low level has 2 additional through platforms.
