larryzapeye keeps a close eye on the final key preps for the 2009 Santa Anita Derby...The Pamplemousse (Alex Solis), Pioneerof the Nile (Joe Steiner) and Chocolate Candy (Joel Rosario) all see action ten days out...narrated by Larry Zap...enjoy
He does seem to be lacking some of the energy I've seen in other videos, where he looks like he's devouring the track....not quite so much this time...I sure hope he's ok and read for the Derby....I really love this horse.
He looks a little stiff to me at the trot in his hind end, and he is blowing hard after the work. Definitely not one of my favorite works from him, but he still has a week and he is still the champ! I agree that PON looked nicer this time.
Although I love the P man, I agree with DaHoss- PON's work much more visually impressive. PM seemed tired afterwards- blowing hard with head down..seems like he needed the work? Or still tired from Sham stakes? But let's see where it counts April 4...still love the Mousse..
I wasnt very impressed with that work. To me he didnt seem aggressive enough or into it and I think Solis sensed it too as he was urging Pamplemousse to pick it up. We'll see.
I wonder why I could see what trainer Julio Canani couldnt see?
