A Reading with John Scalzi

As part of OPEN BOOKS 2011, the author and online writer John Scalzi read from his latest publication "Fuzzy Nation". The novel deals with the paradise-like planet Zara 23 where an extremely rare, fossil material was found. All of a sudden, the big money seems to be reachable. However, no-one thought of the "Fuzzies", the planet's residents.

Scalzi was born in Fairfield, California in 1969 and graduated from the University of Chicago describing it as "a very positive experience". He became a freelance writer and started his daily blog "Whatever" in the mid-90s. After publishing several books, John Scalzi was hired as Creative Consultant for the television show Stargate: Universe in 2009. Almost a year later the author became President of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.
