This was the first day of General Assembly, and coincidently Blog for Change day. If opening day was any kind of indication, This World Now will never be wanting for material.

Of course, D.A. King just had to make it easy for us by holding a Capitol press conference. He said his usual stuff about how illegal immigrants are hurting hard-working Americans and ooh, this was good he lashed out at immigration as organized crime and those who have stood up for immigrants as un-American:

Also, did you notice there that he first says that there were rallies, protests, marches of all descriptions from people of all walks of life opposing his efforts, but then he turns around and says that its the very far-left fringe, the un-American element in our society who has defeated him? Huh? Who believes in immigrants rights Americans from all walks of life, or the far left, un-American fringe? Didnt Sarah Palin test drive this nonsense?

But the BEST PART came when D.A. King turned around to thank State Senator Chip Rogers for his support, and did a double-take when he realized that Rogers wasnt there. Seems Rogers, who until now has been one of Kings strongest allies in the state house, and who had in fact sponsored the bill that King was talking about, decided not to show. King of course tried to pretend otherwise, improvising on his feet with the quick, I think hes held up in traffic. Quick but lame.

Um, yeah, maybe, except that it was the first day of the session and Rogers had been there already that day.

So today we got to see King a little red-faced, and we get to speculate about whether Rogers might actually be trying to distance himself from King, whose policies Rogers has agreed with, but whose group, The Dustin Inman Society, has now been officially declared a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League.

Or maybe he was stuck in traffic . . . on his way home.

Welcome to this years Georgia General Assembly! Its gonna be a wild ride.
