Many American women remain unaware that heart disease is their No. 1 killer, even though more than 42 million American women are living with one or more types of cardiovascular disease. To urge Americans to join the battle against heart disease, February was proclaimed "American Heart Month."

Joining the crusade is entertainment icon Marie Osmond, who within the space of a very public couple of years, lost her father, mother and grandmother to heart disease.

Turning her loss into action, the entertainment icon is joining the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women to lead the discussion about women and heart disease. Marie is calling on survivors, family members, friends and heart health professionals to share their stories of heart disease at the first-ever national casting call for a chance to represent the movement as the "Heart of Go Red" and possibly appear in a television special on women and heart disease.
