More than half of Iran's industry is based in Tehran. Industries include the manufacturing of automobiles, electronics and electrical equipment, military weaponry, textiles, sugar, cement, and chemical products. It is also a leading center for the sale of carpets and furniture. There is an oil refinery south of the city.

The city has numerous large museums, art centers, palace complexes and cultural centers.

In the 20th century, Tehran faced a large migration of people from all around Iran. Today, the city contains a mix of various ethnic and religious minorities, and is filled with many historic mosques, churches, synagogues and Zoroastrian fire temples.

Tehran is the biggest and most important educational center of Iran. Today There are nearly 50 major colleges and universities in total in Greater Tehran.

Since the establishment of Darolfonoon in the mid 1800s, Tehran has amassed a large number of institutions of higher education.

@khanoom1000 Hi! :) i am so touched by those words of advice from you, thank you so much. but i know that he is a gentleman,..actually, he is a close friend of a close friend of mine so he is not a total stranger. :) but, yes, i have learned a lesson not to fall for someone so faraway, it is so difficult to start something with someone you do not see in person, misunderstandings happen all the time with typewritten messages.

@tessabela All I can tell u is NEVER trust someone whom u have never seen. Don't let positive thoughts run into ur mind just by looking at his pictures or what he says in his emails. He could say a lot of things about himself that may not be true. He may not be an honest person and most likely he isn't. Just go and find someone who is close to you that you could meet and talk to in real life. Just save urself and don't fall in love with someone who lives in a different country thru his emails.

No I am NOT the only one who says Shahs son and one of his daughters were heroin users .

I wont commit suicide because i do NOT use drugs like the children of Shah.

That family was messed up and all Iranians inside Iran have at least one family member who got murdered by Shahs secret service the Savak and we all want them to come back to stand trial for all those men and women Shah ordered to be tortured and killed.
