Great!
But now that you know the notes, put some authentic feeling to it :-)
Your playing it like a Popular Music bass player. Make the notes pop out more.
Also, play your part more like a percussion instrument, in the sense of your accuracy. "Get up on your toes" so to speak.
Listen to yourself, then honestly listen to some authentic stuff admit the differences that you can hear and work on them. If we can't hear it, we can't fix it. Feel is everything in this stuff.
Keep up the good work!

Gee Wiz! What's up with all the haters??? You ignorant bastards! There are Africans of EVERY color. Stop discriminating against the white brothers! LoL Nice bass line! I love African music.

Hey, I really like your video. It's really good. Short, simple and fantastic. Keep it up.

So then...
I stand by my positive reinforcements of this fine young players attempt at growing. I suspect he would have disabled comments if he hadn't wanted them...
Best wishes, however :-)

Well my friend you are certainly entitled to your opinion, and I would agree with regard to negative reviews. But I have to flat out reject a general statement like yours. It simply does not reflect any grasp of reality to broad-stroke like that. Countless pros on musical interpretations have existed now, for hundreds of years.
We simply must disagree. (continued)

@snaedwiev It is people who make critique of other peoples ability to "groove" or play a world music with an authentic feel that I take objection to in the absence of a video response.. Simply because it is such a pointless thing to describe in words, and so intangible, that critiquing someone's feel is useless without audio examples.. I feel this is because, people play it the way they hear it, or that their internal clock forces them to play it the way they do, so they need audio to steer them

Right you are! (lol) all this time I thought I was being all patient with some jerk.
Sorry I didn't notice that you had joined in the comment and replies.
So that throws a different light on the tone of your comments. But it doesn't necessarily change the essence of what I have said.
Now..do you just object to positive critique and encouragement being put into words, as opposed to a video demonstration, or is there something about a specific point or comment that I made? :-)
-
@snaedwiev Check again, I never said "i love bullshit replies like this. thanks for the laugh", that was someone else.
-
Not saying that I couldn't demonstrate my point, but I envy this guys overall technique, but that doesn't mean I can't point out where he could be even better.
There are probably a million examples of what I am talking about on YouTube, exceptional examples of this style of music, they will serve him far better than any example that I personally could provide him with, which is why I pointed him in that direction TO BEGIN WITH :-)
are there any videos of actual cafricans playing bass grooves????
