  • I thought this was a spoof when the interviewer starting talking. Then I realised he was simply a talentless twat!

  • Ian Svevonius looks like a cross between Elliot Gould and one of the Gallagher brothers here. What a dweeb he really is.Mark Smith,I enjoy your points of view and you are looking more like a drunken & emaciated Johnny Cash every year.Live on and keep your attitude.Always an original.

  • Great interview on MES's part. The interviewer is an ass. I know somebody who met him a few years ago. My friend only stopped to say "hi" and chat for a minute and this tool did nothing talk about himself and how great he was for the better part of a 15-minute exchange.

  • You mean 'Jack Black'. 'Frank Black' is from the 'Pixies'. Frank's one of the good guys.

  • It is great that Smith thinks that Frank Black is a twat, and wants him to die.

  • "In retrospect even Sonic Youth look good now, that's sayin' a fuckin' lot innit." (MES)

  • How do you stop rock school? Why? Let all the idiots play guitar. There will be more to rebel against in the future. Nice big fat balloons full of hypocrite juice to spill.

  • Ian does a good job here as usual. He actually gives MES time to explore what he wants instead of asking him the same old banal questions one after the other. And MES is sticking it to the right people. Perfect interview.

  • @donniebobb Mark E Smith is running rings around him in this interview. The interviewer makes my skin crawl.

  • this is the art of the interview and ian has mastered it wonderfully. look at all the artists he's interviewed: genesis p. orridge (psychic tv), henry rollins (black flag), ian mackaye (minor threat), bobby gillespie (primal scream), kevin shields (my bloody valentine), and graham coxon (blur). these are difficult and often misunderstood artists he interviews. the answers you'd hear are pretty intense. you have guts to interview these strong personalities to get a sincere reaction from them?
