James : Brixton Academy live part 5 : 15 December 2008

James perform Sometimes and Laid live at the Brixton Academy on 15 December 2008.

Laid is incomplete, but worth including here I feel - as it includes footage of Tim singing literally inches from my camera!

In case anyone is wondering why my films dont include any of the songs from recent album, Hey Ma - it is simply because it was the first time I'd had the chance to see those songs live and wanted to give them my undivided attention rather than be distracted by filming. For what it's worth, I love the Hey Ma album, and would urge anyone that doesnt already own a copy to go out and buy one now!

from what i remember of the gig the band tried to start into the next song but the crowd kept singing and they had to stop and let us get bored of singing and thats when Tim made the comments. Ive seen James since then and they have moved the song back in the set and have tried to get the crowd going again but i think that was a one off and its the only time ive been to a concert where the crowd were singing the previous song and the band were trying to play the next. It was a one off,

@thegaconite Yeah could be. It was pretty exceptional wasn't it?! Tim looks genuinely moved by it. And the audience just looks so into it! I hadn't bothered to look behind me until I did the little pan round to show the crowd (5:19-5:37) and the extent of the response just blew me away. In fact there is a little hiccup in the pan where I basically did a double-take. Every single person, downstairs and upstairs seemed to be singing along with this blissed-out look on their face! A one off indeed!

I remember this concert like it was yesterday its a shame the person filming missed Tim saying that he wanted to remember the crowd taking over at the end of sometimes was one of the moments he wanted to stay with him for the rest of his life.

@thegaconite When did Tim say that? I do seem to remember him saying something along those lines but I think it must have been at the end of the show. It definitely wasn't after Sometimes. I've checked the original mpeg file and there is only 7-8 seconds of applause at the end of the Sometimes before Larry plays the opening chords of Laid. I stopped filming at that point, as I wanted to leap around to Laid, but just had to resume filming when Tim came right up to where I was standing! Great gig!

Hi - just had a quick flashback to this moment and found it on youtube. Pure Bliss and Togetherness....which is what I think James are all about.

Your right i think it was one of the nights where everyone just got the vibe and it was amazing. I have seen them since and it just dosent feel the same after that night. Thanks for posting the the clip as i brought back the feelings of that night.
