When I first hit an age I was able to buy fireworks on my own this is one of the first places I purchased fireworks. So when a pyrotechnician named Sam at this facility offered me a chance to see the place I was very excited. In addition to seeing the current operations at this fireworks facility you will also see some pieces of fireworks history. One of which is an original M-80 machine, a genuine piece of American fireworks history.
The description below was provided by Pyrotechnics By Presutti.
The Presutti family has been in the fireworks business for over 600 years. Family legend has it that a family member accompanied Marco Polo on his second trip to China. Arriving back to Italy with formulas for gun powder and other chemical wonders, the family member was hired by the Church to scare heathens into the religious fold. Supposedly, the family would fire aerial effects over the houses of families who had been warned that evil spirits were after them. Fireworks, being totally unknown in the West, frightened the villagers to church.

In the 1700's, the family formalized the business and became the pyrotechnic experts to the kings of Italy. The family operation was based in Fontecchio, Italy until 1928.

In 1928, Domenico Presutti arrived in America and in 1932, opened his own fireworks company (Ohio Fireworks) in Bellaire, Ohio.

In the mid-1950's, the business was led by Domenico's son, Veto. Many of you may remember him as the outspoken, friendly fireworks expert that he was. Several of our current employees were taught the trade by him.

Due to Veto's failing health, the company was taken over in 1996, by his oldest daughter, Delphine. She re-structured the business and renamed the commercial display division Pyrotechnics by Presutti, Inc. As president, she maintained operating locations in Ohio and Florida, as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands.

We recently lost Delphine in August of 2006. The company is now led by Veto's youngest child, Bobbie Presutti-Lucas. She oversees the entire operation with the commercial division being run by her husband, Dave Lucas.

Pyrotechnics by Presutti, Inc. is not only family owned but operated like a family. The average employee has been with the company for 15 years with many still on the payroll after 35 years. The company maintains one of the most diverse inventories of artfully designed and beautiful aerial shells in our industry enabling us to fire an entire show and never repeat a shell unless it is desired. We maintain an importing license as well as dealer
and manufacturing licenses. Very few of our competitors can claim the same.

We have been here for a long time and intend to stay around for many generations to come. We invite you to give us a call so that we may quote you on all your fireworks needs.

Remember---nothing will gather a crowd like the beauty of the night—like the beauty of a fireworks show by Pyrotechnics by Presutti, Inc.

  • That indeed is a beautiful sight Dave.... you are so lucky to be in that building, you are now a part of history yourself from just being in there, very impressive.

  • @yellowgroove I heard stories about this machine from back in the day. I always tried to visualize what it would look like. Now I am able to share it with everyone thanks to the good folks at Presutti Fireworks. I may do another video on it in the future with more detail. It is truly a piece of American fireworks history.
