without a doubt the only english player worth watching in my lifetime. Unfortunately I only got to see him from 94 onwards, but definitely a brilliant player.

This man (and my oldest brother) are the reasons why I became a Liverpool supporter! My 1st Liverpool shirt had Barnes 10 on the back, in fact every Liverpool shirt I ever had did! I modelled my game on him. None of this step-overs, tricks and flicks lark. Just pure pace, quick feet and dropping the shoulder at the right time. LEGEND!!!!

My favourite player of all time! He was simply majestic for Liverpool. To stand head and shoulders as the best player in a team that had the talents of Peter Beardsley, Ray Houghton, Ronnie Whelan and Jan Molby shows what a great great player he was. For those too young to have seen or appreciate how good he was, John Barnes was to Liverpool what Lionel Messi is to Barcelona. He was a fantastic footballer!
